In a way to describe how in love he is with Nancy, he would go to the ends of the Earth for her. Of course, he’s destined to be with her but sometimes, he has his doubts because he feels that she could do better than him – and sometimes, he feels like a winner because he got the girl and he could be more happy about life. ❝ She won’t get worried, Nance, ❞ He sort of begs her to stay, even with those big browns of his, he’ll get her to stay the night and it’ll be PG-13 rated because he knows that Nancy wants to go slow and he’ll do anything for her, he’ll even crown her the new queen of the school ( metaphorically speaking, of course ). ❝ Tell her that you’re sleeping over – studying. I mean, tutoring me. ❞
Nancy loves Steve Harrington. He has his moments (a la Carol and Tommy’s doing) where he’s been an asshole, but God, it was never to her. He loves her so much and she can see it whenever she looks into those damn brown eyes of his. She can get lost in those so easily. A smile spread even farther across her face as she laughed, “my mom, Karen Wheeler, not getting worried about me sleeping over at your house? It’s practically unheard of. It’s almost like you haven’t met her,” she teased and brought her hand down from his cheek to rest her fingers in his.
In other words, Steve loves Nancy Wheeler. She’s the literal queen to his king and by god, he’s never going to let her go. He was so kind towards her and to anyone else, he’d kill them. There’s something in her that he could see and it’s not hate, it’s not his parents yelling at him, it’s not his mother force feeding him so he’d have some meat on his bones, it’s love and he’s so in love with her that he’d be willing to tell her all of his secrets, even the ones he had hid for the longest time. ❝ Do I want to? I mean, if I’m going to be around my future wife, I might as well meet her family, right? ❞ He smiles wide at the thought of them getting married and living together - but he’s worried about the different schools they’d be going to after high school.
❝ Nancy, ❞ He lets out as he slowly pulls away from the other girl, a light smile on his face. ❝ Hi, you. ❞ His voice is kind of short and breathy, but he still manages to say more than two words. ❝ Don’t go, stay. Please? ❞
Nancy gives him a look that’s pure puppy love. “Hi,” she whispered back, her own voice quiet and said through soft breaths. Her teeth drag over her lower lip as she truly contemplated the idea of facing her mother’s wrath should she comes home late. “Steve… My mom– she’ll get worried.”

“Steve–” his name is caught and muffled against his lips as she smiles, “Hey,” she says, though she’s still leaning into his kisses, “I – have to – go.”

Relatively speaking, Steve was something of a jerkwad but he didn’t care that much. If you were rich and living in some glass house, then you were untouchable, but Steve didn’t think so. That house he had lived in seemed so empty on the inside and everyday, he could feel the glass crack every now and then. Sure, it looked pretty on the outside, but on the inside were things people couldn’t imagine seeing. It’s why Steve’s got his guards up and it’s why he feels the need to please people, but in reality, he hated it and he hated how he had to be someone else in front of others. Being a ‘bully’ because he was rich wasn’t always so fun and he knew it, but he’d go along with things and make it seem okay because he was Steve Harrington, King of Hawkins High.
❝ Nice observation, Einstein, ❞ He bit back, crossing his arms as he could see the circle disbanding, hearing nothing but constant mumbles of it being a short fight, but it wasn’t a fight - maybe there was going to be one later, but not right now. However, he did know that almost starting a fight would be a week’s detention, not that he really cared because he had nothing to go home to, his parents weren’t around and when they were, they’d tell him things that weren’t true about himself and that’s where he gets the negativity from, his parents.
Getting detention wasn’t a bad thing ( as Steve and his friends would say ) but he didn’t care too much about JASON. He knew that he was new to the school and to the town, but he didn’t care nor did he even bother to ask people who he was. Though, he did know that he was going to have to halt on his study date with Nancy - not like that was a problem, she’d understand.. Hopefully. And there they were, sitting in detention, a piece of paper on the desk for him to write a valid excuse on almost starting a fight at school.
The tip of the pencil tapped on the blank piece of paper, his mind refusing to give in to the orders given out by the teacher half asleep at their desk. Jason didn’t do anything WRONG, but his father sure didn’t believe that, so there he was stuck in detention. With Harrington. Jason at least hoped that the boy wouldn’t be in here WITH him. Besides, wasn’t the rich kid always supposed to get off easy?
Putting his pencil down finally Jason looked at Steve sitting a few desks in front of him. What was the guys problem? He tried recalling his actions in the first school day, and nothing seemed too ‘fuck you Steve’. Maybe it was because Steve had a little CRUSH on him. Jason snorted at the thought.
He REALLY didn’t want to try and make peace, but it seemed like he would make an enemy for the rest of high school if he didn’t do SOMETHING. Not that he was afraid of the kid, but he would rather not have the most popular guy in school on his bad side. Jason was definitely aware that the social warzone was far more brutal than the physical.
Picking up his stuff, Jason quickly moved to the desk beside Steve before the teacher started to pay attention to the movement instead of continuing their slumber. “Steve.” Jason whispered, looking at the boy from across the aisle. Hopefully he didn’t get a PUNCH in response. “Did I do something to you, dude?”
Not that he didn’t mind detention, but he didn’t care too much about it in general. In his mind, detention was like wasting time in school and yes, he did get good grades, but he didn’t care too much about them because he knows what his dad’s got in mind for him. To his dad, it was going to be college and then law school to become a lawyer and he didn’t want that. Hell, he wasn’t even sure if he wanted to go to college - but once he did hear about it ( or maybe he’s seen one too many corny college movies and they always had busty babes in them ) but he thought about it and sure, maybe it was on his mind every now and then, but he was still on the fence about college.
Steve wasn’t so territorial with his status in school, but he felt like he had to do something about it because when he had first gotten there, there was nothing but little social climber clubs and he would be damned if he had to join one. Now, he’s the king of the school, brainiacs and nerds kiss the ground he walks on and everyone follows him because he’s Steve fucking Harrington, the ‘it guy’ and he wasn’t going to give that away to some new kid with an attitude. God, being popular and shit like that was fun but sometimes, he’d get lonely and his friends that followed him would fade away into nothingness and he was scared of doing that - fading, so he had to tell some people off ( and maybe his dad paid the school to do things about the epic failure that is Hawkins High ) but that didn’t matter because he got his own way and he was proud of it.
A small sigh leaving his lips as he finishes up his paper, soon placing the pencil down, his eyes gazing at the clock and hearing the ticks and tocks of it, his feet itching to move and he was ready to go. The teacher was reading some bullshit article about something on the newspaper and he basically snorted at the thought of getting another week’s worth, so he had kept his composure right where it was supposed to be, a hum escaping.
Hearing feet patter, he had wondered who it was – though, he wasn’t up to much talking ever since the small fight that got him into the mess in the first place. His name being called, he mentally groaned, turning his head to the one person he wasn’t keen on seeing. ❝ Jason. ❞ He lets out, his eyes trained on the other as if he’s a piece of meat and he were a lion. ❝ I’m not your DUDE, don’t call me that. ❞
Now, Steve was adamant on always winning every single fight that he had ever been in, but this one seemed like it was going to be easy. There would be a struggle, but he knew that he was going to win. Of course, people put bets against Steve and whoever he was fighting, but he would win and he’d take his friends out to wherever they felt like eating. But this kid – this new kid, seemed easy as pie and he swore to himself that he was going to be the clear winner.
As the other had put his hand on Steve, slapping him like that, the Harrington boy had felt the sting, though, he didn’t do anything. There was his first reaction, which was to hit him harder, but hell, he wasn’t even going to do that just yet. But, he did raise his hand and extended it as if he were going to strike ( he was planning on it, if anything ) soon hitting the other almost as hard as he could, harder than that goddamned slap that bruised his face - his pretty face that every guy wishes they could have and he was thankful for the genes and he liked how everyone envied him.
❝ What? You’re gonna slap me like the little pussy you are? ❞ He retorts, a scoff leaving his lips as he feels eyes on him and on his opponent, hearing nothing but the pattering feet of the guards coming to split them up. ❝ Why don’t you make me, newbie. Probably won’t because you’re a wimp and will always be one. ❞
He listened to the boy ramble, using his obscenities and his threats to try and SCARE Jason. He’s heard worse though, and hes definitely SEEN worse. Once you see an attempt to create an apocalypse, it makes every other problem seem like an episode of The Brady Bunch. Especially HIGH SCHOOL problems.
“I guess I DID slap you. Huh.” Jason glared at the other, not expecting to have such a strong DISLIKE for someone on his first day. He at least thought that would wait until another month or so. Something positive he could say about Steve Harrington right then is that he certainly didn’t waste any time.
Jason started to brace for the other’s punch as a result of his smart-mouth, (which his dad told him he had a problem with), but instead the security guards finally cut in between the two. He stood there calmly, despite what the security guard had anticipated, which was probably an all out brawl. Even though it wasn’t FIGHT CLUB, Jason knew he was going to have detention. On his first day. That, he could punch Steve Harrington for.

There was something about this situation that made it challenging and knowing the Harrington boy, he loved a challenge every now and then, but this one was different. However, Steve had his dignity and he was ready to slam the other against the lockers, hoping for a better reaction from the crowd that was soon circling around them.
A small laugh leaving his lips, he looked over at Jason, placing his hands on his hips. ❝ Well, you are in my town. Breathing the same air I am and look, here you are - in the same school as I am. ❞ He points out as he keeps his eyes on the other, wondering what his motive was, really. Maybe they were going to fight, maybe they weren’t, but all that mattered in that moment was hearing the voices and comments of those people who wanted them to hit each other and by god, that’s what he was going to do.
❝ I’d like to see you try, new kid, ❞ He rolls his eyes at the other, his hands soon balling up into fists as he heard the other, in the most anger he ever could and SWUNG at him, actually swung at him, hitting some part of his body and that smug smile never leaving his face because he knew that he would win, somehow.
He really wanted not to get into a fight. Not on his first day anyways, when his father was so adament on the “restarting” idea. Fighting would just seem like Jason went back to square one. He could let the boy talk trash, even threaten him, but he wouldn’t just let the bully HIT him. He felt the impact on his shoulder and Jason squinted, it didn’t HURT, not with his abilities, but maybe if Steve was lucky it would leave a light bruise.
The hushed OOO’s now were yells of ‘Kick his ass Steve!’or ‘Hit him Jason!’, and so Jason decided to please the crowd. He wouldn’t punch him, or Steve’s teeth might all fall out, but he WOULD slap him. Jason quickly reared his hand back and SLAPPED Steve. Hard. The yelling then got quiet, as the sound of his open palm smacking the other’s cheek came with a loud SMACK, one that was more brutal than usual.
“Next time you walk up to MY locker looking for trouble,” Jason spat, anger filling every word he spoke. He KNEW this wasn’t his fault, but it still made him feel guilty. He could hear the security guards rushing through the crowd trying to seperate the two. “walk AWAY.”
Now, Steve was adamant on always winning every single fight that he had ever been in, but this one seemed like it was going to be easy. Probably won’t because you’re a wimp and will always be one. ❞
Like hell Steve was going to back down from this fight. Yes, he might have fallen down, but he sure as hell wasn’t going to call it quits. He was much more worth than that, if anything. As the other boy had hit him, he had raised his arm up to guard his face, soon clutching and grabbing at the other’s shirt to bring him down, hearing his words. ❝ You fight like a girl, Johnny Boy, ❞ He lets out, a breath leaving his lips as he begins to hit the other once again.
The back of his head collided with solid concrete, a jarring pain shooting up to the temple. But it wasn’t going to stop him, Jonathan immediately pushing back against the boy on top of him, rolling over in the gravel so they had switched places. He was done with retorts, names. At this point, it was about silencing the other. Johnny Boy. The familiar taunting identifier his dad had used plenty of times was enough to set off full steam from the Byers boy. Jonathan pummeled one fist, then two, into the other boy’s face. A third caught Steve on the ear. But Jonathan wasn’t near done.
Steve was nowhere done with Jonathan, however, he was going to fight his last or until Jonathan gave up, but seeing how the other didn’t, that just gave him motivation to hit him some more. As his body was pushed back by the other male, he had felt the weight of Jonathan atop of him, his hands gripping at his clothes as the other pummeled him and even then, he wasn’t going to stop. As fists hit his face, Steve had used his other arm as a guard, avoiding to get hit and then the best idea had come up – he was going to assert his own territory and shove the other off of him before even moving towards the other, his fist almost white due to his clenching, hitting and hitting, not having a single regret.
Steve wasn’t trying to show off, though, he was just trying to let the other boy know who was the actual king of the school – something he never lost, in fact. Seeing how he and his family were known as the ‘Richie Richs’ of the town, there wasn’t really anything to say out loud because the amount of money, the car and the home was enough to say something. A bitter chuckle as he looks over at the dirty blonde, he rolls his eyes, opening his mouth to say something.
❝ Careful, Jason. You don’t wanna get into a fight with me, ❞ There was a smirk forming, but it was nothing challenging, he was just giving a warning, if anything. ❝ Yeah, there is, actually. You can get out of my way. ❞
He swallowed hard, just because Jason could pride himself on not being a huge piece of shit, doesn’t mean he would just LET some ass walk all over him. He knew he had bigger problems, the problems that came with being a Ranger, but this just pissed him off.
“Oh I see, you’re supposed to intimidate me.” Jason turned his body towards Steve, and then the others in the hallway really started to pay attention. Murmers with the word ‘FIGHT’ were thrown around, but Jason would rather NOT end up in dentention on his first day.
“Don’t worry, I’m not here to take your crown.” Jason leaned in slightly, “But I might now.” He whispered.Besides, he moved here to start over in the first place, and if Jason remembered correctly being popular was pretty damn FUN, and the boy in front of him just gave him a motive.

It was like Jonathan was tempting him to start a fight, he was aiming for one and god, fighting sounded like a great idea. ❝ It’s like you’re begging for one, Byers. ❞ He stands his ground, his hands soon balling into a fist before striking. He wasn’t really looking for a fight but, he wasn’t going to back down from one.
“Go ahead,” Jonathan shrugged it off. He honestly wouldn’t mind giving Steve a few more punches to the face. And even if he got one or two back himself, it wasn’t that big of a deal. All his pent up aggression and emotions over the last few months were itching to get out.
Now — Steve was a fair person and what people asked for, he was more than willing to give to them. ❝ I know what’s gonna happen, Byers. I’m gonna kick the shit out of you and you’re gonna run home to Mommy so she can tell Chief Hopper that you got into another fight. ❞ Swinging his hand towards the other’s face, Steve was more than sure that he had punched his cheek, somewhere near the bone, but he wasn’t too sure, there was anger inside of him.
“If anything, Harrington, you’ll be calling your dad and complaining that some kid beat the shit out of you. Again.” Jonathan moved to duck. And while his reflexes were quick, it wasn’t enough, his snarky response spending more time than he’d expected. Steve managed to clip his cheek, enough to probably start a bruise, the knuckle cracking on the bone under his eye. But it wasn’t to heavy of a hit, and Jonathan was swinging right back, a buried fist curling towards the other’s ear.
❝ Oh, please, Byers. You can bite me. ❞ He spat back, using his fists as a shield to prevent getting hit, though, he swung again, knowing that there was going to be something happening, maybe a court order, but as soon as Jonathan hit him, he could feel his ear throb, soon swinging again, trying to hit somewhere that wasn’t his face.
He felt the impact against the side of Steve’s head, relishing at the collision. Jonathan blocked the next fist with his shoulder as one forearm raised with his face tucked behind it. “Bite this!” he retorted. The other arm was swinging again, now for Steve’s chin. And then a second blow with the other hand, crossing to the other’s boy’s nose - surely still not fully healed from the last time.
